A Gram-negative strain, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped and motile bacterium with double polar flagellums, designed G-43, was isolated from a surface seawater sample collected from an aquaculture farm in Guangxi, China. The phylogenetic, genotypic, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data demonstrate that strain G-43 represents a novel species in a new genus within the family Oceanospirillaceae, for which the name Parathalassolutuus dongxingensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed.
