Studying the iron line complex in the bright Seyfert galaxy NGC 5506

We propose a 30 ks observation with XMM of the bright Seyfert galaxiesNGC5506. The main goal is to study in detail the iron line complex.BeppoSAX observations suggest the presence of a narrow component besidesthe relativistic one. The proposed XMM observation will permit to disentanglethe two components with great accuracy.By products of the proposed observation are: spatial and spectral analysis ofthe soft excess, which will possibly clarify its nature; variability studies,which in principle can shed light on the primary emission mechanism. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
