Successful embryo implantation requires dynamic remodeling of the endometrium through integrated proliferation and differentiation of endometrial cells including luminal epithelium cells, glandular epithelium cells, and stroma cells. Conversely, their disruption cause infertility. Spatiotemporal control of transcription is required for these processes, however, underlying epigenetic regulation has been largely unknown. To elucidate a role of the histone lysine methyltransferase KMT2D in embryo implantation, we generated uterine-specific Kmt2d knockout mice and found that these mice are complete infertility due to implantation failure. Here, we examine gene expression profiles in the uterus from Kmt2d knockout mice during implantation to understand the mechanism of infertility in these mice.
