Taxonomy and Empirical Characterization of Redbricksatin (Specimen BER_2709_RO)
收藏资源简介:
This open-science project archives the empirical physical diagnostics and systematic taxonomy of Redbricksatin (Specimen Holotype: BER_2709_RO), an anomalous high-hardness mineral discovered on March 14, 2022, in the Ghioroc Ballast Lake area, Arad County, Romania. Weighing 4.66 grams (23.3 carats), this translucent red macro-crystalline specimen visually mimics carnelian. However, rigorous testing demonstrates a stable hydrostatic density of 2.70 g/cm³ and a definitive Mohs hardness of 7.5, verified by its structural capacity to scratch crystalline quartz, red onyx, and black tourmaline. Because these physical vectors exceed the absolute structural thresholds of the quartz isomorphic series (maxing out at 2.66 g/cm³ density and 7.0 hardness), a chalcedony taxonomy is completely falsified. The diagnostic profile instead mandates a systematic classification within the Beryl Group of cyclosilicates. This repository serves as the primary data and media verification registry for the holotype ahead of upcoming laboratory spectroscopy workflows.
