July 2016 Assessment of the Temporal Response of Peatland Testate Amoebae to Legacy Mine Contamination near Hambone Lake on Tundra Mine property, Northwest Territories, Canada

Two peat cores were collected, in July of 2016, near Hambone Lake within the Tundra Mine property ~240km northeast of the City of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NWT), Canada in order to (1) analyze and quantify the temporal relationship between change in the concentration of elements of concern (EOC), specifically arsenic, and testate amoebae assemblage variability, and (2) assess the potential of using testate amoebae as a reliable and cost-effective bioindicator of legacy mine contamination.
