sediment_Chalco Metagenome

Lake Chalco is one of the last remains left a large lacustrine system by the growth of Mexico City, which was settlement area of significant pre-columbine civilizations, including Aztecs that flourished in this area at the end of the XV century. We describe the prokaryotic and eukaryotic community structure, and gene function analysis of the past 12,000 years, from a sedimentary sequence of Lake Chalco. This study contributed to the understanding of the Holocene period within an area with well characterized environmental conditions of a Neotropical region.
