资源简介:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global health challenge, significantly affecting the treatment of bacterial infections such as Salmonella spp., a leading cause of foodborne illness. Resistant strains of Salmonella reduce the effectiveness of standard treatments, leading to prolonged illnesses, increased complications, and a greater burden on healthcare systems. This research aims to update and analyze the current AMR patterns in Salmonella spp. in Australia, providing critical insights into its prevalence, trends, and contributing factors. By identifying specific resistance profiles, this study will inform clinical decisions, ensuring timely and effective treatment options that improve patient outcomes. Additionally, it will support antimicrobial stewardship by identifying areas where antibiotic use can be optimized, reducing the emergence of resistance. The findings will also inform public health practice by guiding food safety interventions, prioritizing surveillance efforts, and shaping evidence-based policies to mitigate the spread of resistant Salmonella. Furthermore, this research will strengthen health systems by enhancing Australia’s ability to monitor and respond to AMR threats, contributing to national action plans and preparedness strategies. Ultimately, this work will help protect public health, ensure sustainable treatment options, and contribute to global efforts in combating AMR.
