The object of this project was 16S rRNA profiling of microbial communities of two small lakes located in the Ozernoye open-cast polymetallic ores mine in Eastern Siberia. The first reservoir, Bu-18, had a neutral pH and a low content of sulfate and dissolved metals. The second reservoir, Bu-16, is an acid mine drainage with pH 2.85, filled with water from Bu-18, passing through a layer of rocks containing sulfide minerals.
