Regulation of VEGF-induced genes by Rab5A and Rab5C

The goal was to investigate whether the induction of gene expression by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in endothelial cells depends on endosomal GTPases Rab5A or Rab5C. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were lentivirally transduced with short hairpins against Rab5A or Rab5C or control short hairpins. Cells were then starved overnight and subsequently stimulated with VEGF for 1 or 4 hours. The cells were then lysed and RNA was isolated.
