Resolving the annual pelagic distribution of Tufted Puffins in Alaska 2018-2021: unprocessed geolocator data

This dataset consists of the unprocessed time-stamped tab delimited ASCII files downloaded directly from geolocator devices (Migrate Technology, UK; n = 42) recovered from tufted puffins breeding on Middleton Island, Alaska. We deployed 60 geolocators over 2 years (30 each in July 2018 and 2019) on adult tufted breeding on Middleton Island. Forty-two geolocators were retrieved when birds returned to breed in subsequent summers (June 2019 [16], 2020 [24], and 2021 [2]). Data were downloaded using the Intigeo-IF interface for PC/laptop running Microsoft Windows. Each geolocator download typically consists of five files: light data (.lux; 2 files), temperature data (.sst; 1 file), and wet/dry data (.deg; 2 files). When geolocators failed prior to retrieval, they were sent to Migrate Technology for data extraction. These geolocators typically have 3 associated files: light data (.lux; 1 file); temperature data (.sst; 1 file), and wet/dry data (.deg; 1 file).

Files from each geolocator are organized within a folder labeled for the year in which the device was retrieved (2019, 2020, or 2021) and subfolders labeled with the device serial number (e.g., BP574).
