Benthic diatoms are important primary producers in freshwater bodies, serve as a critical food source for aquatic animals, and play a key role in the material and energy cycles of aquatic environments. In most shallow lakes with wide bottom areas and sufficient light for photosynthesis, benthic algae are the main carbon fixers. This dataset includes indicators such as diatom species names, standing stock, density diversity index, species richness, abundance, and dominant taxa from typical lakes in the Middle Yangtze River Plain.
