Global georeferenced occurrence dataset of Stator limbatus and its host-plant associations (GO-STATOR)

This dataset, hereafter referred to as GO-STATOR, compiles global georeferenced occurrence records of Stator limbatus (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), including geographic, temporal, taxonomic, ecological, and host-plant association information. In this dataset, each record represents a unique combination of locality, date, and host-plant association; multiple individuals observed at the same locality, date, and host plant were treated as a single standardized occurrence record. Records were gathered from peer-reviewed literature, biodiversity repositories, citizen-science platforms, and unpublished sources, and were subjected to taxonomic, spatial, and consistency validation. Occurrence, taxonomic, temporal, and geographic descriptors were harmonized according to Darwin Core terminology, while additional ecological, host-association, and seed and pod morphometric traits were provided as custom extension fields. Host-plant scientific names were standardized using World Flora Online and Plants of the World Online. The dataset includes 1,925 records spanning from 1873 to 2025, 1,758 of which are georeferenced and 933 report the host species. The dataset supports macroecological biogeographical research as well as studies on invasion biology and insect–host interactions across different environmental and climatic regions.
