Iron content as an indicator for Legionella species in artificial water systems

Following is the data which shows the presence of Legionella spp. in both natural and artificial sources of water, especially in municipal water supply systems. In our study, we show that iron concentration at the sites of bacterial growth can be a reliable chemical marker for the presence of Legionella spp.
