This dataset primarily presents an EI ion source adapted for a time-of-flight mass spectrometry system for space exploration. The ion source is lightweight and compact, and is capable of short-term storage of electron current via a collimated electron beam. The dataset includes all simulation and experimental test data for the EI ion source designed in this work. The simulation content covers the influence of various parameters of the EI ion source on its performance, as well as results such as ion trajectories and electric field distributions. The experimental data section includes measurements of the electron current from the ion source, endurance test results, and more. These results fully validate the effectiveness and reliability of the designed EI ion source.
