Preparation of a simple sterile mask for patients during head and neck dermatologic surgery. A. Sterile materials are gathered, including surgical wrapping, disposable drape or sterile towel wrapping, bandage scissors, forceps, ruler, and four rubber bands. B. An approximately 19x21 cm template is outlined on the sterile surgical wrapping using a surgical marker and ruler. C. The outlined piece of material is cut out with bandage scissors. D. The piece of material is folded every 2 cm like an accordion. E. Each end of the folded material is bent in on itself and a small hole is cut 1 cm from the material border. F. Two rubber bands are linked together, and a loop is placed through the hole at each end of the folded material using forceps. G. The free end of the linked rubber bands is passed through the loop and tightened at each end to secure it in place. H. The mask is placed on the sterile surgical tray ready for use.
