Value of investments in commercial real estate worldwide 2015-2023, by type

In 2023, the value of commercial real estate investment worldwide fell after record highs in the final quarter of 2021. Industrial real estate was responsible for the largest share of investments, amounting to 37 billion U.S. dollars in the fourth quarter of 2023. Despite having the lowest investment value, the hotel sector was the only one experiencing an uptick in investment. Additionally, the alternative real estate sector also saw a slight increase in the fourth quarter of the year.
