Al-Ṭabarī's Tārīkh and Tafsīr: Concatenated passim text reuse alignments

KITAB was funded by the European Research Council under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant Agreement No. 772989, PI Sarah Bowen Savant), hosted at Aga Khan University, London. In addition, the project received funding from the Qatar National Library to aid in the adaptation of the passim algorithm for Arabic. KITAB text reuse alignments generally are based on the passim algorithm, authored by David Smith, of Northeastern University. The algorithm inputs and aligns 300-word chunkings of text. The alignment files that result often break up alignments that would otherwise cross chunk boundaries. The file released here contains longer alignments across the chunks, through a post-processing step developed by Ryan Muther in the context of her PhD research under the supervision of Smith.
