The Remote Sensing Monitoring Case Dataset for Forest and Grassland Fires contains remote sensing image data of more than ten forest and grassland fire incidents that occurred in China between 2019 and 2023, as well as data on burned areas and the damage severity information of various hazard-affected bodies.
Burned areas are indispensable for studying the formation mechanism of forest fires. Due to varying terrain, climatic conditions and other factors across different regions and time periods, the identification accuracy of regional burned areas is often constrained by multiple limitations. Accurately and comprehensively identifying burned areas can help understand the spatiotemporal patterns of fires, analyze their driving factors, evaluate their impacts on humans and nature, provide references for post-disaster management and forest fire prevention projects, and offer critical data support for the global carbon cycle. Timely extraction of burned scars and protection of forest resources are of great significance to economic development, the ecological environment and human safety. Large-scale mapping for accurate assessment of fire severity is an important approach for fire management and research on fire-related ecological and climate changes.
