microbial communities of tobacco-related metabolites treated soils and plant roots

We study the function of santhopine and nicotine, tobacco-specific plant specialized metabolite (PMSs) accumulated in roots, in the formation of tobacco root bacterial microbiota. To reveal the effects of those metabolites on the soil bacterial community, we treated soils with either of these metabolites or both of them. In parallel, we analysed root microbial community composition of pot-grown tobacco and field-grown plants such as soybean, tomato, bitter melon, to identify the bacterial species uniquly found in tobacco roots.
