Rough endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi in epidermal cells of Fundulus heteroclitus scales. Epidermal cells undergoing advanced stages of scale development have prominent rough endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi indicating increased protein synthesizing activities. A number of vesicle-like structures are also clustered in the cytoplasm.
