Oncostatin M neutralization in E. coli pneumonia

Oncostatin M (OSM) is an IL-6 family cytokine that is necessary for neutrophil recruitment in pneumonia by inducing STAT3-dependent production of CXCL5. We used microarrays to identify additional pathways affected by OSM neutralization in the lungs during pneumonia. We sought to understand the effect of the cytokine OSM on whole lung RNA in the early stages of E. coli pneumonia. Mice were infected for 6 hours with E. coli plus control or neutralizing anti-OSM antibody.
