Images and Site Records from an Archaeological Evaluation at Haigh Woodland Park, School Lane, Haigh, Wigan, Greater Manchester, August-December 2023

This collection comprises images and site records from an archaeological evaluation at Haigh Woodland Park, School Lane, Haigh, Wigan, Greater Manchester. This work was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology from August to December 2023. The evaluation revealed evidence relating to structures in Trench 3 (brick structure and robbed-out wall foundation cut). These likely relate to an ancillary building visible on the 1796 Estate Plan, and possibly on a 1707 view across the estate, and the base of a brick utility feature. The buildings appear to have been replaced by the currently standing stable complex by 1865 and therefore may represent an earlier stable complex.<p>
