Survey on Genetic Researchers’ Experiences and Perspectives on Genetic Data Sharing

The goal of this survey was to assess genetics researchers’ experiences and perspectives with using different sources of human genetic data for research. Specifically, the survey focused on: 1) the advantages, limitations, and accessibility of various types of genetic databases (including government, private, and consortium-managed resources); 2) researchers’ experiences navigating requirements, obstacles, and data-sharing processes; and 3) perspectives on how current dataset options do or do not meet research needs, including ancestral and demographic representation, consent, and data management.<br><br>Findings from this survey will inform recommendations to improve genetic data sharing and enhance the utility and diversity of genetic datasets for the research community.
