Rotavirus A (RVA) is a prominent pathogen for mammals and birds, causing diarrheal disease. Bats are known hosts of several viruses pathogenic to humans, and evidence is emerging that RVAs can be added to this list. The objective of this study was to contribute to the genetic diversity of bat RVAs from a global collection, and their potential to switch host species.
