The CDC FluSurv-NET dataset contains weekly influenza hospitalization rates from the CDCs FluSurv-NET surveillance network. It includes 14 RESP-NET catchments (some states host two, e.g., New York has separate Albany and Rochester catchments) plus a network_all aggregate. The data is seasonal, typically populated from October through May each year. Prior to 2018, the network was smaller. The dataset covers 22 influenza seasons from October 2003 to January 2026. It provides weekly flu-confirmed hospitalization rates per 100,000 population, including overall rates and rates for five age groups (0-4, 5-17, 18-49, 50-64, 65+). Important caveats: FluSurv-NET catchments do not represent whole-state populations (e.g., California covers selected counties in the SF Bay Area), so catchment rates should not be compared directly to state-level flu rates from other sources without re-weighting. The dataset contains 9,342 rows, is updated weekly, covers the United States, and focuses on influenza pathogen surveillance for respiratory diseases.
