Georeferencing Files for Excavation Plans from Myos Hormos – Project "History from coins: the use and value of coins in the ancient Western Indian Ocean ports".

This dataset contains georeferencing files for archaeological plans from excavations at Myos Hormos. The files provide spatial reference information that allows the original excavation plans to be positioned within within a global geographic coordinate system compatible with commonly used basemaps (e.g. Google Maps / Google Earth).. The dataset includes georeferencing parameters and raster metadata generated during GIS processing. The original raster images of the plans are not included due to copyright restrictions associated with the published excavation reports. In addition, the dataset contains SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) elevation data, used as a digital elevation model providing regional topographic context for the archaeological site. The documentation was produced within the framework of a research project funded by the National Science Centre, Poland (NCN), project no. 2021/43/D/HS3/00350, entitled “ History from coins: the use and value of coins in the ancient Western Indian Ocean ports.”
