Managing cascading failures in interdependent urban infrastructure: systematic review data, extended data and code

This dataset accompanies the systematic review "Managing Cascading Failures in Interdependent Urban Infrastructure: A Systematic Review of Propagation Dynamics, Spatial Bottlenecks, and Crisis Governance" (Niswah et al., submitted to F1000Research). The review follows PRISMA 2020 and PRISMA-S and synthesizes 92 primary studies of interdependent urban infrastructure under extreme climate and weather hazards, addressing how failures propagate across systems, where cascades can be interrupted, and how crisis governance is coordinated at those points. The deposit contains five files: 1. Extended_data_Tables_S1-S9.xlsx – Extended data Tables S1–S9: characteristics of the included studies (S1); propagation, bottleneck and governance data for each study (S2–S4); reports excluded at full text or not retrieved, with reasons (S5); quality appraisal of each included study (S6); agreement between reviewers at each stage (S7); search validation against a benchmark set (S8); and the GRADE-CERQual evidence profile for each review finding (S9).2. Extended_data_Search_strategies.docx – Full search strategies for Scopus and IEEE Xplore, search dates, limits, deduplication, citation searching and search validation.3. Extended_data_Extraction_form_and_appraisal_checklists.docx – Data extraction form with controlled vocabularies, the five-domain modeling checklist and the MMAT 2018 items.4. PRISMA2020_checklist.xlsx – Completed PRISMA 2020 checklist with the manuscript location of each item.5. Fig1_PRISMA2020_flow.pdf – PRISMA 2020 flow diagram of study selection. Searches were run in Scopus and IEEE Xplore on 24 September 2026, with backward and forward citation searching in OpenAlex on 25 September 2026.
