Characterization of AMR and Lineages of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius Cyprus

This is the first study to report on S. pseudintermedius lineages in companion animals in Northern Cyprus, emphasizing the presence of both methicillin-resistant and multidrug-resistant strains. The findings underscore the importance of continuous surveillance of S. pseudintermedius, particularly methicillin-resistant strains, due to their zoonotic potential and the risk of cross-species transmission. This research contributes to a broader understanding of MRSP epidemiology and highlights the need for integrated One Health strategies, which are essential for mitigating the impact of antimicrobial resistance on both animal and human health.
