Canadian Gallup Poll, October 1989, #910_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political and social issues. The questions ask opinions on Canada's allegiance to the Queen, taxes, smoking habits, the Progressive Conservative (PC) Government, Liberal Leadership Spending, and economic prospects. There are also questions on other topics of interest such as the New Democratic Party leadership, confederation, the biggest threat to Canada in the future, English and French relations, belief in mythical creatures, Federal - Provincial relations, free trade, and questions related to political party preference. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic, political and social variables. Topics of interest include: Allegiance to the Queen; government taxes; smoking habits; PC Government; Free Trade with United States; Federal-Provincial Relations; belief in mythical creatures; Halloween; confederation; profession honesty; political party preference; the NDP; and Liberal Leadership spending. Basic demographic variables are also included.
