This series was created to cost the proposal to convert the Sydney suburban railways to electric power. The calculations estimate the power requirements for both existing and proposed city and suburban lines.The method of calculation is described in text. Variables include load, train resistance, grade resistance, the frequency of stopping, time of day, type of motor used. Tables and graphs are used to demonstrate calculations. A table of contents of the volume appears in the front of the volume.The number 3G/188 appears on the front endpapers of this volume. Its significance is unknown. It was possibly a location symbol when the record was active or in storage. Custody HistoryThis record was handed to the Archives Authority on NSW on 11 June 1968 by the Bradfield family. It was apparently an archival estray.
