This study aimed to examine how practicing dentists perceive and approach the care of older patients, with particular attention to whether their clinical attitudes are driven by negative age-related stereotypes or by perceived structural and organizational constraints. Using a national survey of Hungarian dentists, the study assessed attitudes toward older adults alongside concerns related to treatment feasibility, costs, patient compliance, and professional preparedness. By analysing these domains and their associations with demographic characteristics, the study sought to clarify whether age-related differences in dental care are more likely to reflect individual-level ageism or broader systemic factors shaping everyday clinical decision-making.
