Intergranular Pore Structures in Sandstones

Dataset: Sandstones (Bentheimer, Doddington, and Rotleigend)
X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) is used to examine the intergranular pore structures in a series of sandstones. All three sandstone samples are imaged using a ZEISS Versa X-ray Microscope (XRM) (ZEISS X-Ray Microscopy, Pleasanton, CA). 3D volumes of the varying resolution are reconstructed from a series of 1600 projections, sequentially acquired at evenly spaced angular increments during a 360° rotation. Each projection consists of 1024 x 1024 pixels and is reconstructed into a 3D volume of size 1024 x 1024 x 1024 voxels. These are then cropped into maximally inscribed cubes from the cylindrical reconstructed volumes and segmented using ZEISS Zen Intellesis machine learning based segmentation (Andrew, 2018).
