Genetic mapping through BSA-seq of Pieris egg-induced HR in Brassica nigra

Cabbage white butterflies (Pieris spp.), pests of cabbage crops (Brassica spp.), can trigger an HR-like cell death upon egg deposition. In this project we studied natural variation of HR-like induced by Pieris eggs in the black mustard (B. nigra L.). We found that HR-like segregates as a Mendelian trait throughout our crossing scheme. Parental lines and bulk of progenies with shared phenotype (HR absent or present) were resequenced to performed bulk-segregant analysis paired with whole genome sequencing (BSA-seq).
