Colloquy Issue 42

Issue 42 of Colloquy: Text, Theory, Critique is a special issue on the theme of Reframing Resistance. It begins from the suspicion that resistance has become criticism's most flattered term: pre-approved, rarely defended, attached by now to almost everything. It is then that we realize that a word asked to do so much work has stopped working. Its six contributions, spanning poetry, creative nonfiction, short fiction, criticism, and review, decline the triumphant frame almost without exception, locating resistance instead in the minor register: the gesture that fails, the refusal that goes unrecorded, the disobedience absorbed before it can be named. Across the issue an unsolicited thread emerged, silence, imposed and weaponised and inherited and theorised by turns.
