VPRS 3599 Ballarat Trams Wages Book

This series was created by the Ballarat Tramways in order to have a record of payments made to its employees. From the start of 1903, when this series begins, Ballarat Tramways was operated by the Electric Supply Company of Victoria. Each page of the volume is divided into rows and headed columns. Information appearing in each row includes the name, occupation, rate of pay, days worked and total fortnightly pay. There is provision for each row to contain details for two fortnightly pays. Occupations listed in these entries include inspector, driver, groom, conductor, car cleaner, slate layer and charwoman. The final pages of the volume contain a comparison between the wages of the Electric Trams and Horse-Drawn Trams Departments.
