From Research to Practice in Healthcare Design: A Decade-Review of the Implications for Practice published in the HERD Journal - Open Access Database

This database comprises peer-reviewed articles published in the Health Environments Research & Design Journal (HERD) under the “Research” category between 2013 and 2023. A total of 339 articles were included and systematically reviewed to extract key information relevant to evidence-based healthcare design and practice. For each article, the following data were recorded: publication year, issue number, authors, country of study, article title, study design, main findings, implications for practice, as well as the specific users, care settings, and practitioner groups referenced in the practice recommendations. The purpose of this database is to synthesize a decade of research to: Identify gaps in current design evidence and its practical applications, Highlight trends and underrepresented areas in healthcare environments research, Provide targeted insights for specific user groups, care settings, and practitioner audiences. The primary goal of this dataset is to identify practice-relevant recommendations across diverse healthcare contexts and highlight gaps in evidence for specific users, settings, and professional audiences. It may serve as a valuable resource for researchers, designers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers working toward more responsive and evidence-informed environments of care.
