Modulating the plasminogen activation system to improve outcome in Alzheimer's disease

This thesis set out to examine whether a drug that is already used in patients with ischaemic stroke, could also be used to improve outcome in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. Although this drug could not be shown to be of benefit in the model used, other findings as a result of this study have led to a greater understanding of the complexities of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and can be used to guide future research in this field.
