Disability Wellbeing Index: Items Development & Scoring Algorithms

The Disability Wellbeing Index (DWI) is a measure of outcomes for adults and young people (aged 15 years and above) with a disability, based on what those outcomes mean to them in terms of their personal wellbeing • The items in the DWI were chosen, after extensive consultation with stakeholders and people with a disability to create a valid but concise 14 item index • The DWI is designed to measure the value of changes in the average outcomes from programs of services and supports across different cohorts of people with a disability • Future testing and refining the DWI for groups exposed to different levels and types of supports over a period is necessary and should be part of any implementation
