Dissemination of antibiotic resistant bacteria cultured from patients in medical centres and long term health care facilities, children at daycare facilities and broiler and weaned pigs from farms in The Netherlands. I-4-1-Health Dutch strains

The goal of the i-4-1-Health study is to assess the prevalence and spread of resistant bacteria among humans and animals in the Dutch-Belgian border22. Across a one-year period, we screened patients in hospitals and in long-term healthcare facilities, infants at day-care facilities, and broilers and weaned pigs for gut or rectal carriage of ESBL-producing, ciprofloxacin-resistant or carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci.
