Structural properties of water confined between GO layers

This project aims to investigate the structural properties of water confined between high-oriented GO layers, by means of GIXRD measurements with relative humidity (RH) control. The GO interlayer spacing will be changed by varying RH, in order to control the amount of water molecules adsorbed into GO layers, from sub-monolayer to 2 monolayers.We will carry out GIXRD measurements in order to probe if water adopt a long- or short-range structure different from bulk phase, even at room temperature, induced by the 2D confinement, where water-GO and water-water interactions are competitive.
