Central Kerguelen Plateau Rock Sample Database - compiled from data, 1929-2016

This database catalogues all currently available geological samples collected from the Central Kerguelen Plateau including Heard and McDonald Islands and their storage locations. Potential samples and their locations were identified via publications, ANARE reports and word of mouth. If the samples were found, they were inspected, described and catalogued into this database along with any accompanying information. Some samples had been in private collections (eg Thost) prior to the creation of the database. These samples were catalogued into the University of Tasmania rock store and this database. Primary samples types include rocks and sediments. Subsamples include thin sections, thin section blocks or billets, laser mounts, crushate, powders, XRF pucks and sieved sediment fractions.
