Per una palingenesi del primo trattato romano-punico

The aim of this paper is to attempt a palingenesis of the Latin text of the first treaty between Rome and Carthage, which Polybius claims to have seen and according to him records the agreements made at the beginning of the Roman Republic. On the basis of the comparison with Latin words contemporary with Polybius, a retroversion from Greek to Latin of the 2nd century BC is carried out. A further retroversion to Latin of the end of the VI century B.C. is then attempted. On the basis of the reconstructed text a first historical analysis is illustrated.
