Analysis of bacterial community in 1599 dairy cows and 399 non-dairy sheep mammary glands by analysing milk samples in a longitudinal study from parturition and into lactation. 16S rRNA gene fragments were amplified for all samples and then analysed to determine whether there was a core microbiome in these ruminant's mammary glands over time.
