Wireless Underwater Magnetic Communication (UWMC) is a promising technology to enable data transmission in aquatic environments where traditional radio waves experience significant attenuation. This paper presents an overview of UWMC, including basic principles of operation, characteristics of magnetic field propagation in water, types of transmitters and receivers, modulation and coding techniques, and current advances and challenges. Various applications such as environmental monitoring, underwater robotics, underwater vehicle communications, and military applications are reviewed. Problems related to communication range, data rate, interference and power consumption are discussed. Finally, current research, development prospects and future directions of UWMC are analyzed, highlighting its potential to enhance communication capabilities in the underwater environment.
