To characterize apple blossom microbiomes with antagonistic potential against the fire-blight pathogen, an orchard with low-input plant protection regime was surveyed. No fire blight incident was reported in this orchard, although the disease occurred in the immediate vicinity. The bacterial and fungal diversity in apple blossoms from varieties Ariwa, Boskoop, Idared, Milwa/Diwa and Golden Delicious were assessed by metabarcoding of 16S rRNA V5/V6 and ITS2.
