Replication Data for: Expression of specific var gene subtypes is differentially associated with severe malaria syndromes

This is a replication dataset for the manuscript titled: "Expression of specific var gene subtypes is differentially associated with severe malaria syndromes." The data was generated to determine whether the infecting malaria parasites express distinct pfEMP1 for specific clinical malaria syndromes. The study used clinical data collected from children presenting with malaria (1994-2012), Two methods were used to generate the var gene data (RT-qPCR [gpA1, gpA2,dc8-1-4, dc9, gpB, gpC] and DBLα-tag sequencing[group A-like, cp1, cp2, and cp3]),other gene transcription (pfsir2a) of the parasites isolated from the children, plasma level of PfHRP2, antibodies to surface of trophozoite-infected erythrocytes and rosetting frequency of infecting parasites
