Whole genome sequencing of gut microbiota in cognitively frail and robust older adults from the AGELESS Cohort

This study used shotgun metagenomic sequencing to characterize the gut microbiota of 40 community-dwelling older adults. Participants were categorized as either cognitively frail (CF) or robust based on assessments of cognitive and physical function. The study aimed to explore differences in microbial composition and functional pathways between the two groups. Understanding the differences in gut microbiota between CF and robust older adults may provide critical insights into how microbial communities influence the interactions and to understand the potential microbiome related to CF in ageing.
