Nine sheep with symptoms sheep pox infection were revealed and diagnosed in several regions of Russia (Pskov, Moscow region, Amur, Tver, Dagestan, Kaluga, Tula, Kostroma). The contents of pox ulcers were collected. DNA from each sample was extracted using a QIAamp DNA Microbiome kit. DNA was used for shotgun metagenome analysis.
