A Critical Analysis of Young Children Composing Nationalist Narratives as Part of the Larger Body Politic

Many researchers have considered recent and intergenerational immigrant children's perspectives on immigration policies. Fewer have investigated non-immigrant children's views despite children's sociopolitical identities forming long before they can vote. Generated in spring 2017, the author generated data at an urban, Midwestern school as they considered how a class of majority non-immigrant children made sense of the Republican Administration's (anti-)immigration policies. Framed as an ethnographic case study, the author shares here the graphic organizer the third-graders responded to as they wrote persuasive letters to their Congressional representatives about contemporary immigration policies.
