The supernatural entities of the Babylonian Talmud

The dataset was produced in the framework of the <i>Elyonim veTachtonim</i> project (https://elyonimvetachtonim.project.uj.edu.pl/). It consists of the subsequent revisions (numbered and codenamed) of the inventory of the Talmudic traditions featuring supernatural entities. Each version of the inventory contains textual passages from the Babylonian Talmud featuring various supernatural entities (angels, demons, ghosts, and monsters). The entries are annotated using complex tag ontology pertaining to the contents (e.g., a sphere of life in which a given entity appears, a set of skills and knowledge manifested by an entity, or a type of relationships it engages in with humans) and formal features (e.g., genre, language, or attribution).
